Vetri is an Indian cinematographer and prominently works in Tamil and Telugu film industries. He started his film career as cinematographer with the Tamil action thriller movie ‘Thenavattu’ in 2008. He got many praises for his camera work in ‘Thenavattu’ film.
After ‘Thenavattu’ film, Vetri selected as cinematographer for Gopichand’s Telugu action film ‘Souryam’. Through this film, he made his entry in Telugu film industry. Later on, he worked as cinematographer for many Tamil and Telugu movies such as ‘Sankham’, ‘Venghai’, ‘Muni 2: Kanchana’, ‘Vellore Maavattam’, ‘Daruvu’, ‘Loukyam’ and ‘Vedalam’ and many more.
Vetri Born and Career:
Vetri was born as Vetri Palanisamy at Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India and he currently living in Chennai. He made entered into KFI as cinematographer through the Jiiva’s Tamil action thriller film ‘Thenavattu’ under guidelines of director V. V. Kathir. This film arrived in the 2008 and opened with negative and mixed reviews from the critics and audience. But finally, this film is recorded as below average film at the box-office.
In the same year, Vetri made his debut in Telugu film industry as cinematographer for Gopichand’s action movie ‘Souryam’. This film got positive reviews and it is turned as biggest hit at the box office. This film also dubbed in Hindi as ‘Meri Shapath’ and Malayalam as ‘Souryam’ and recorded as commercial hit. Later on, this film is remake in Kannada language as ‘Shourya’.
In 2009, Vetri again worked for Gopichand’s Telugu action movie ‘Sankham’ in the direction of Siva. This film marked as average at the box office and it is also dubbed in Hindi and Tamil languages with different titles.
In 2011, Vetri selected for director Hari’s Tamil action-masala film ‘Venghai’, in which Dhanush and Tamannaah Bhatia played major roles. This film opened with mixed reviews and turned as super hit at the box office. Later this film is dubbed in Telugu as ‘Simha Putrudu’ and Hindi as ‘Meri Taqat Mera Faisla’.
In the same year, Vetri worked as cinematographer for Raghava Lawrence’s horror thriller movie ‘Muni 2: Kanchana’ and it is turned as biggest hit at the box office. After that, this film is dubbed in Telugu language as ‘Kanchana’.
In 2012, Vetri again worked with director Siva for Ravi Teja’s comedy fantasy Telugu movie ‘Daruvu’. In the next year, he selected as cinematographer for Ajith Kumar’s Tamil action movie ‘Veeram’.
In the same year, Vetri again roped for Gopichand’s ‘Loukyam’ movie as cinematographer and the film is directed by Sriwaas. This film is super hit at the box office and it is remade in Bengali and Kannada languages with different titles.
In 2015, Vetri again worked for Siva’s Tamil action masala movie ‘Vedalam’, in which Ajith Kumar and Shruti Haasan appeared in major roles. In fact, director Siva and Vetri together studied at Adayar Film Institute so they maintain close friendship in film industry.
As now, Vetri once again worked as cinematographer for Gopichand’s flick ‘Oxygen’, which is directed by Jyothi Krishna. This film is currently progressing at brisk space and it is planning to release very soon.
